Sarah Overman
Georgia Institute of Technology
Hi, My name is Sarah Overman and I am currently attending Georgia Institute of Technology and pursuing a degree in Business Administration. During my time on campus, I plan to get involved in the society of women in business, as well as dance tech, a performing arts club. After starting at Georgia Tech, I have gained many insights into the program regarding how students excel above and beyond in their time within the university. The faculty truly makes an effort to be supportive and encourages working with others to grow our connections. The school also provides many resources available to students for both physical and mental health needs. Most importantly, they encourage a work life
Khaniyah Holmes
Georgia Southern University
Hi, My name is Khaniyah Holmes and I am a first-generation college freshman at Georgia Southern University. I am majoring in Biology with a concentration in Marine Science and minoring in Mathematics. I have recently attended interest meetings for my campus’s biology club, leadership program, and a club for African American women called ‘Sisters’. After starting my academic journey, I have learned that college is more than exams and parties. You cannot succeed without applying yourself fully and taking the time out to make the scores you want. I love the school I chose and would choose it again if I were given the option.

It has open doors to so many opportunities that will benefit my academic career such as internships, summer programs, scholarships and networking events. I’m so excited for what god has planned for myself and my future career. My journey has been a roller coaster but I know everything will be worth it at the end.
Jaydon Williams
Georgia Institute of Technology
Hi, My name is Jaydon Williams, and I go to the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am majoring in Electrical Engineering. I plan to join the Georgia Tech chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, the Georgia Tech Running Club, Anime Club, and a few others possibly. After being here at Georgia Tech for two weeks, one thing I have learned is that you have got to go hard. I believe going here is meant to be challenging and kind of difficult in order to form you into the best version of yourself. Another thing is that this college is filled with remarkable people who will surprise you in every which way, and that the culture and support here is amazing!! I can’t wait to see where my time here will take me, and I know I chose the right school. Go Jackets!
Nakyra Merritt
Fort Valley State University
Hi, My name is Nakyra Merritt, College has been such a new and great experience all together. It’s almost as if it’s a culture shock. There are so many different personalities and cultures that you have the opportunity to experience. I have greatly appreciated the ability to even be on campus. I am taking the time to gain experience in my major—Social work— in the Health and Wellness center on campus. I also plan on completing an internship in addition to my volunteer work. In addition to my public service I will also join a group called Mary Magdalene where we plan to help and engage girls in sisterhood and create awareness of the different challenges we face as young women on a college campus. Overall I have gained such a yearning to acquire and all the knowledge I can. The college experience has also given me the space to see how many sacrifices that were made for me, which makes me want to work even harder. In essence, I appreciate any and all the help I am being provided to be able to be present to this unique experience.
